In our last session, we had a choice of what we wanted to do and we all wanted to build dens. We worked well in teams and also enjoyed a marshmallow break! A huge thank you to Mr Goldsmith and Mrs Bills for a fantastic block of Forest School sessions.
We went on a great walk, following the stream and observing where certain plants grow. It was like going on a bear hunt! We splashed in the stream and stumbled across logs….what an adventure!
This week, we learnt how and why trees are coppiced. We even had the chance to coppice a tree with saws and loppers!
We also checked our rain gauges.
This week, we made our own small fires. We will be writing instructions for how to make a small camp fire back in class. We then used the larger camp fire to explore why different solids have different melting points. We have been learning about changes in state in our class-based lessons.
This week, we made portraits using natural materials. We have been working on self-portraits in our art lessons.
We also set up rain catchers so that we can collect data to analyse back in class.
Foxes really enjoyed being back on the forest! We used our new orienteering skills learnt in the week to help us find clues.
