Current advice is this: anyone in a household displaying symptoms should get a Covid test (call NHS 111 if you are unsure). All members of that household should then isolate for 14 days, they should only get tested if they then develop symptoms. Again call NHS 111 if you are not sure. If the tests come back negative then everyone can go back to "normal". If the test comes back positive, then the household must isolate for 14 days. If someone else develops symptoms within those 14 days then the testing and isolating cycle begins again for that household.
